At the end of 2014, Wells Bring Hope Treasurer Larry Johnson initiated a $1 million Rotary Grant on behalf of the Manhattan Beach Rotary Club. The goal was to bring clean water to 25,000 people in the poorest country in the world, Niger, West Africa. Larry worked very hard to enlist the support of other Rotary Clubs, including some outside the U.S., and in the fall of 2016, the grant was fully funded.
Motivated by Clubs interested in continuing to help save lives in West Africa, Larry initiated another effort in partnership with Wells Bring Hope. Utilizing WBH’s Water Circles, an individual club can set up its own fundraising campaign and continue to fund wells. Donations are tracked and available to see on this website.
