Start a Water Circle

A Water Circle is an easy way to start your own fundraising campaign. You set the goal and design your fundraising page with the simple tools we provide. Then share the link with your friends and family. It’s as easy as that!

Your birthday is the perfect opportunity to kick off your Water Circle. Instead of presents, ask for donations! A Water Circle can also be created in honor of or in memory of a friend or loved one or to celebrate an anniversary, graduation, or milestone event like a bar/bat mitzvah.

You’ll be prompted to create an account. Once you’ve done that, check your email for a link to build your fundraising page.

1. Set a goal

People are much more likely to support you if they know what the ultimate goal is. You can set a goal of providing safe water for an entire village by funding a whole tap for $6,300, or set any goal that feels comfortable for you.

2. Seed your campaign

It’s been demonstrated that people are more inclined to support an effort that already has some momentum. Make a donation yourself and/or see if a family member or close friend will help you get started. Consider recruiting a family member or local business to match all donations to your Water Circle.

3. Announce your effort

Reach out to your friends and family by email, text, social media, even a good old-fashioned letter, and let them know what you’re doing! Download a sample letter.

4. Have fun with it

Fundraising shouldn’t be a drag! Try to think of exciting or unusual ways of raising money for your Water Circle. Download the Water Circle Manual for some ideas.

5. Update your network

Let people who have already donated know how your campaign is going and what progress you have made, and give people who haven’t yet contributed a gentle reminder that you still need help reaching your goal.
